Andrew Nelson

I am a practicing transportation engineer, passionate about navigating the intersection of engineering, planning, climate, and policy. I recently explored this in HuMNet Lab’s Sierra Leone project, supervised by Prof. Marta C. González. I used network science, environmental modeling, open source software, and publicly available data to develop novel methods to predict the effects of climate events on street networks, service accessibility, and facility demand in Freetown.

As a recent graduate from the University of California, Berkeley, now a Master of City Planning and a Master of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering, I hope to continue to apply data science for human mobility to my professional pursuits.
